my heart aches...

my heart aches
and
my stomach is in knots over last fridays tragedy.
as i am sure yours is too.

sunday fittingly our sunday school lesson was from Romans on faith
both john and i read the

this is what the study notes stated on
ROMANS 8:28

Gods works in "all things" - not just isolated incidents - for good.
This does not mean that all that happens to us is good.
Evil is prevalent in our fallen world, but God is able to turn every circumstance around for our long-range good.
Note that God is not working to make us happy, but to fulfill his purpose.
Note also that this promise is not for everybody.
It can be claimed only by those who love God and are called according to his purpose.
Those who are "called" are those the Holy Spirit convinces and enables to receive Christ.
Such people have a new perceptive, a new mind set on life.
They trust God, not life's treasures; they look for their security in heaven,
not on earth; they learn to accept, not resent, pain and persecution because God is with them.

i hope these words bring comfort to you during this time.

god bless and...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

things to be thankful for!

i have finally sat down to blog. november was a busy month...
i had so many thoughts to blog about, but no time.
since we have moved into the new house we don't have internet yet so it's been challenging
it made me realize how dependent i am to modern technology!

i hope all of you had a safe and happy thanksgiving holiday.
ours was low key but very enjoyable.

thanksgiving day 2012 at the high oak's ranch
1. big daddy with tripp and kate (our house)
2. mom-o cooking the gravy (her house)
3. our turkey and ham platter...yum
4. stuffing, green bean casserole, baked sweet potatoes

this was the first thanksgiving of my life that my me-me and the entire
COBB family wasn't present...
change is definitely something that happens but is hard to adjust too.
we miss you me-me

me-me's  last picture at the high oaks ranch with three day old tripp.

we missed all of our extended family,
but are so glad they are all safe and healthy!

can you believe it's already the christmas season!
this is definitely my favorite time of year...

i was very excited to start decorating

we went and cut down our christmas tree at the local tree farm.

christmas so far around the klam house...

and of course no christmas season is complete without a picture with santa...
we do this annually at the Waco Jr. League "Deck the Halls" event.
kate decided at the last minute that santa wasn't so cool after all so to avoid a major
scene...i decided to stand in....memories.

hopefully i will get to post more soon...
take care, god bless and soak in the christmas spirit!

oh ps...

i had to go ahead and post our halloween pictures even though i am almost 2 seasons behind on posts.

books worth reading

books worth reading: redeeming love

i just got finished reading this book. it was a recommendation
i saw on pinterest from my sister.
it was an enjoyable christian love story!
i would love to do a bible study at my home with this book...
at the end it has a book discussion.
i am now going to read as many books as i can by francine rivers...
her writing is not only enjoyable but also a way to connect with god!

This book feature information was taken from AMAZON.com
In this splendid retelling of the biblical story of Hosea, bestselling author Francine Rivers pens a heartbreaking romance between a prostitute and the upright and kind farmer who marries her; the story also functions as a reminder of God's unconditional love for his people. Redeeming Love opens with the Gold Rush of 1850 and its rough-and-tumble atmosphere of greed and desire. Angel, who was sold into prostitution as a child, has learned to distrust all men, who see her only as a way to satisfy their lust. When the virtuous and spiritual-minded Michael Hosea is told by God to marry this "soiled dove," he obeys, despite his misgivings. As Angel learns to love him, she begins to hope again but is soon overwhelmed by fear and returns to her old life. Rivers shines in her ability to weave together spiritual themes and sexual tension in a well-told story, a talent that has propelled her into the spotlight as one of the most popular novelists in the genre of Christian fiction. This is one of her best. --Cindy Crosby --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

 From Library Journal

Rivers has rewritten a secular historical romance of the same name (Bantam, 1991) for the Christian market, and it is a splendid piece of work exploring both physical love and a love of God. Angel, a young, hardened prostitute sold into "the life" as a child, has no interest in God or religion. Then she meets Michael Hosea, a devout Christian who tells her it is his mission to save her. After being badly beaten, Angel decides to take Michael up on his offer of marriage. Eventually, she learns not only to love Michael but to love God as well. There is not one false note in this wonderful novel. The publisher's foreword rates the book "PG" for its adult themes and subplots of rape and incest. However, these are handled with great sensitivity and are very much a part of the story's development. Very highly recommended for most libraries.

so that the bathroom is facing the front. we took off the guest cottage.
the upstairs of the house is a new design based on the changes made to the plan.
the exterior of the house was adapted from photo #1 & #2

here is the status of the house as of 08.09.12
lots of work still left to be done...shutters, landscaping etc.

this is the living room...
we are using salvaged products when we can.
the wall your are seeing that is grey will have
